Zambia: CEC Invites Bids for Kabompo Power Scheme

THE Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) is inviting bids for the expression of interest for the development of the 40-megawatts Kabompo Hydro-electric Power Scheme in Kapompo.

According to an advertisement, the Kitwe-based company is developing the power station at Kabompo Gorge through its subsidiary company, CEC-Hydro Power Limited (CEC-KHPL).

The invitation for expressions of interest was aimed at identifying Zambian-based civil and building construction contractors and suppliers interested in being considered for work at the Kabompo Gorge Township development site.

The building construction works include housing complex, guest house, offices, club house and multi-purpose sports hall, clinic, police station and schools.

Civil works and service works include roads, water treatment plant and reticulation, sewerage reticulation and treatment plant and waste disposal site.

The development preliminary designs required for preparation of tender documents had been completed.

The development of the hydro-electric power station scheme requires on-site staff housing, a resettlement housing scheme for some project affected, in addition to other supporting facilities and infrastructure.
