Olympique Marseille are waiting anxiously for news of a scan on key player Andre Ayew. The 22-year-old picked up a knee problem during side's 1-0 win over Reims on the opening day of the French Lique 1 campaign last weekend.

The Ghanaian striker has had his fair share of injury problems recently and underwent surgery on a long standing shoulder problem in May after playing through the pain barrier last season.

Having made his return in time for the start of the new season, Ayew faces a spell on the sidelines after he picked up a knee injury during Marseille's first Ligue 1 game of the season.

Les Phocéens expect Ayew to miss next week's clash with Sochaux and are waiting to see whether they will have to do without him for the Europa League play-off against Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol on August 23.
