President Goodluck Jonathan will on Wednesday, August 22 sign Performance Agreement Contract with all ministers with a view to measuring their performance and enhancing the quality of service delivery.
Information Minister Labaran Maku announced this in Abuja while signing the Performance Agreement Contract with the chief executives of agencies and parastatals under the ministry.
A statement by the ministry's spokesman Joseph Mutah yesterday said Maku noted that the initiative of the president was to ensure that henceforth governance is judged by quality of service delivery and not by financial input.
According to the minister, the National Planning Commission has developed Key Performance Indicators for ministries, departments and agencies, which will serve as guide in measuring their performance and output.
Speaking earlier, Director Human Resources of the ministry, Mallam Ahmed Sabo said the signing of the contract was in line with the transformation agenda of the government.
Responding on behalf of the chief executives of parastatals under the ministry, the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Abubakar Jijiwa, said the signing of the contract symbolised a covenant they entered into with the minister and pledged their readiness to ensure the realisation of their respective Key Performance Indicators.

Jonathan's government is known to mute glowing ideas with overwhelming popularity, only to disappear at the practical stage . This is one excellent idea to evaluate why the Nigerian government should have more Ministers and public servants to run a nation of 30 States and total budget twice that of the U.S.A in operating cost. The natural economic law of diminishing returns in individual productivity is conceivably respponsible for Executive looting and lack of supervision from the top. It is hoped the Jonathan government will use this prism to remove overwhelming exceses in manpower usage to trim hoodlums out in public service and ramp up efficience and transparancy. The inneficiency and corruption in his governemtn has remained stubborn because many in his overloaded regime are mere waste and hoodlums , unproductive and waste to tax payers resources . Regional or state representation alone does not meet the criteria to overload the public service without touching off the natural economic law of dinishing returns . Jonathan must use this golden opportunity to streamline his public service to get a trimed and responsible technocrats in the governance of this nation if he cares to handle on crises prone administration . Nigerians find him complicit and undependable in all natinal problems under his leadership and that is why many are clamouring for firm performance or quit .
