Namibia: Father Rapes Own Daughter

A 38-year-old father from Shakambu Village, some 80 kilometres east of Rundu, has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping his 8-year-old daughter repeatedly over a period of four years after the death of his wife.

Police revealed the suspect also threatened to kill his four other children. The name of the suspect cannot be revealed at this point because he has not been arraigned in court yet as the investigation continues.

Appalled by the rape police officers arrested the suspect on Wednesday after the headwoman of the Shakambu Village reported the alleged rape. It is alleged that between 2008 and 12 August 2012, Muronga has been having sexual intercourse with the minor.

According to Detective Inspector Chrispin Mubebo, the suspect beat and threatened to kill his four children since 1999. The suspect will make his first court appearance today.
