Egypt: Information Minister - Large-Scale Changes to Be Witnessed By Ertu

Minister of Information Salah Abdel-Maksoud said that the coming months will see changes in the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) in terms of substance.

The Minister pointed out that he seeks to form a committee to prepare a code of conduct, in which senior men of media and experts of media will participate in order to develop a professional code of conduct that ensures impartiality, objectivity and professionalism in media work.

Abdel-Maksoud stressed that the Ministry of Information will also participate with men of media in the development of a code of self-regulation in order to avoid laws to be imposed by the government or by the People's law on the media.

He noted that a committee will be formed to follow up the media performance in order to enhance professionalism and objectivity.
