Angola: Armed Forces' Pension Scheme Assists Over 38,000 Pensioners

Malanje — About 38,500 pensioners among soldiers with disability, retired military persons and former combatants have been assisted each month by the pension scheme of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

The fact was revealed Wednesday in Malanje City by the national director of FAA's Pension Scheme, the retired general João Luís Neto "Xietu", when inaugurating a branch of the pension plan in Malanje.

The official stressed that the number of beneficiaries which the fund assists currently tends to grow and comes in compliance with the guidelines of the Commander-in-Chief, President José Eduardo dos Santos, aimed at ensuring the welfare of pensioners.

The director reported that the Ministry of National Defence has already released the funds of retired soldiers, listed in order of the years 2009, 2010 and 2011, which will soon see their problems solved.

He informed that FAA's Pension Scheme, with its own resources, has built offices in the provinces of Namibe, Bie, Huila, Benguela, Moxico, Uige, Huambo and Lunda Sul, whose beneficiaries residing in these regions will no longer have the need to move to the capital of the country to discuss their problems.
