Focus on day two clashes of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup will be in Omdurman where two neighbouring Sudanese clubs, El Hilal and El Merreikh will meet in a Sudanese classico. El Merreikh took the lead this year with a 1-0 win in the national championship, comfortably topping the league table. The team has so far remained invincible in two-thirds of the competition. The winner of the duel will top the group with six points.

In Group A, the third Sudanes team, El Ahli Shandi travels to Luanda. Newly elected president of the Angolan club, Alves Simoes promised to do all to strengthen his club. A win will allow them to realise their dreams. The team that conceded a defeat against El Merreikh cannot afford to lose at home especially against a less competitive team of the group.

In Group B, Djoliba hosts AC Leopards. Djoliba will be favourites of the encounter even though they loste in the semi-finals of the National Cup against Onze Createurs. The team that is already champion of Mali before the end of the competition, had targeted a trebble this year - the National Cup, the championship and the Confederation Cup. It will be a far-fetched dream, but there is still the most difficult stage, the continental cup. And we are just at the start of the group stage with five matches to be played and fifteen points still available.

The second Malian club, Stade Malien travels to Casablanca to face Wydad Athletic Club that grabbed a precious point against AC Leopards in Dolisie. In preparation for the encounter, last Tuesday the team played the sixteenth final of the Throne Cup against Chabab Mohammedia. It triumphed on a 3-2 score after extra time. Coach Benito Floro reserved most of his regulars for the match of Saturday evening. Otherwise, it would have been the regular team to feature at the Mohamed V Complex.

Day two could clarify the positions of teams in each of the two pools without much certainty through. The Orange Confederation Cup reserved real surprises these last three seasons.
