Tanzania: Mwanza Takes on Tourism Promotion

Mwanza — MWANZA Region is making unwavering efforts to promote Tourism attractions by identifying potential places during a tourism week in Mwanza City, which will kick off on September 22, 2012.

In an exclusive interview with the 'Daily News on Saturday', the Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Engineer Evarist Ndikilo, says the Region has established a Task Force whose objective is to prepare activities that display tourism in Mwanza Region.

"On September 22 Mwanza Region will join the World to mark the World Tourism Day. It is my optimism that the Task Force, together with sub Committees would prepare a very wonderful job that would meet the expectations of Local and Foreign tourists by showing them tourism opportunities in the region," Engineer Ndikilo said.

Engineer Ndikilo named sub committees with delegated powers to prepare the Tourism week day, as well as Sponsorship and Fundraising committees as Communication and Marketing committee, headed by Mr Esto Msanga, Food and Beverage committee, presided by Mr Josaphat Nkangwa, and Event and Location to be chaired by Mr Henry Mongi.

He noted that the sub committees under Events and Activities are Children committee that is headed by Mrs Ester Maurice, Lecture and Workshop headed by Mr Patrick Karangwa, Gala Dinner to be lead by Mr Hans Heuer and Adult and Sports to be manned by Endrew Ndalahwa.

Others are Fun cruising to Rubondo to be run by Mr Hans Heuer, fundraising and Scholarships headed by Mr Hans Heure, Matching to the stadium and Health to be led by Mr Joseph Mlinzi just to mention a few. Engineer Ndikilo said that these committees have been established to work on all activities related to World tourism day that will be celebrated on September 27, 2012.
