Eritrea: Inhabitants of Adi-Berbere Administrative Area Express Readiness to Make Prudent Utilization of Dams

Elabered — The inhabitants of Adi-Berbere Administrative area, Elabered sub-zone, expressed readiness to prudently utilize dams built last year in the locality. They further explained that the dams with adequate volume of water have created a reliable ground for irrigation farming, and commended the Government for taking such an initiative to promote development in the area.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Hagos Berhane, Mr. Habtom Tesfasilasie, Mr. Idris Osman and Mr. Kiflai Mehari voiced conviction that the construction of the dams has equally fostered agricultural production and water resource.

Mr. Teklu Kafil, head of economic development in the sub-zone, commended the active popular participation demonstrated during the construction of the dams, and called on them to further assume conducting soil and water conservation activities in the surroundings of the water reserves.

More than 9 dams have been constructed in the Administrative areas of Halib-Mentel, Hadish-Adi, Adi-Berbere, Debresina and Sheib-Seleba, according to reports.
