South Africa: President Zuma Wishes Muslims Eid Mubarak

Pretoria — President Jacob Zuma has wished all South African Muslims Eid Mubaarak, as the Islamic month of Ramadaan draws to an end.

"On this auspicious day, I take this opportunity on behalf of government and the people of South Africa, to wish all Muslims of South Africa Eid Mubaarak," said President Zuma in a statement on Saturday.

For their prayers, abstinence from food and drink during the day, giving of charity and all other good deeds, the followers of the Muslim faith are rewarded with the day of Eid.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal and begins with an outdoor prayer, gifts being given to children, visiting the graves of loved ones as well as visiting friends and family.
