Maputo — Angola's Vice-president Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, left Sunday, Maputo, Mozambique after attending the 32nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), held on 17 and 18 August.

Fernando da Piedade, who represented the head of State at the event, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, led a delegation integrating ministers, state secretaries and senior officials from the Angolan government institutions.

During his staty in Mozambique, the Vice president delivered a message from the Angolan Head of State to his local counterpart, Armando Guebuza.

After passing the chairmanship of SADC to Mozambique, Angola was praised for having contributed for promotion of the region as a growing and future zone.

Mozambican President and the acting chairperson of regional organization also praised the orderly and peaceful way Angola has been running the electoral campaign.

He stated that the summit was an opportunity to reaffirm the region's commitment to peace, security and stability.

The participants at the event also elected the heads of State of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, and Namibia, Hifikepunye Pohamba, for the president and vice president of national cooperation in the areas of politics, defense and security of SADC, respectively.
