Zimbabwe: Former Lancashire Striker Dies

FORMER Lancashire Steel striker Simon Chingore has died.

He was 44.

Footballers Union of Zimbabwe secretary general Paul Gundani and Lancashire Steel Football Club chairman Tendai Hove confirmed the development to Standardsport.

Chingore died around 04:30 on Wednesday at Kwekwe General Hospital where he had been admitted for the past three weeks after complaining of stomach problems.

Chingore joined Lancashire Steel in July 1994 from then Division One side Kariba Waves where had ended the 1993 season as the top goal scorer. He then helped Chimbi Chimbi Boys gain promotion to the premiership.

Chingore is survived by his wife Jacqueline and four daughters.
