Huambo — The Angolan industrial sector has recorded a growth rate of eight per cent, two per cent less than what was expected in the beginning of the year, ANGOP has learnt from an official source.

According to the minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim David, his sector will continue to stimulate the national and foreign entrepreneurs to invest in the creation of industries in Angola.

He explained that the country's economic growth is based on private initiative and in public-private partnerships.

In regard to the inauguration, last Thursday, of four new factories in Huambo Province, Joaquim David manifested his satisfaction by saying that this represents the rebirth of the Angolan industrial sector in this region.

"Huambo was once the second main industrial centre of Angola. As a result of the peace that was achieved in 2002, we have now in this province the minimum amount of infrastructures (roads, bridges, water and electricity supply systems) which have enabled the reappearance of the industrial sector, contributing to economic growth and creation of greater wealth and better distribution of the national income (...)", he explained.

The minister commended the work of the local businesspeople, who have been doing their best to recover the main factories of the province.
