Nigeria: Ihediaoha Blames Poor Training for Team Nigeria's Olympics Woes

Owerri — The failure of Team Nigeria to win a single medal at the just concluded London 2012 Olympic Games has been attributed to lack of intensive training and preparation.

Deputy Speaker House of Representative, Emeka Ihediaoha stated this in Owerri yesterday, shortly after receiving an award conferred on him by the Safari Club Owerri Imo State.

Ihediaoha said that it is unfortunate that the Nigerian contingent was not adequately trained before embarking on the competition.

He expressed regret over absence of recreational facilities for the youths in the country, and urged the country's athletes to always take their training serious. He promised to purchase an Olympic standard table and assist in rebuilding the club's law tennis court to encourage those who interested in taking to the sport.

Ihediaoha said that this would assist in producing feature national and international champions from Imo State that would win laurels for the state and the country.
