The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, says if the court of law finds his son, Mahmud, guilty of the alleged charges on fuel subsidy mismanagement, he will face the wrath of the law.
Tukur spoke at the State House, Abuja, shortly after a visit of the Muslim community in the FCT led by Vice President Namadi Sambo to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Fielding questions from State House correspondents, Tukur said his son was an adult, old enough to bear responsibilities for his actions.
The PDP National Chairman, however, noted that he was not perturbed by the opinions and criticisms expressed on the issue by the public but would wait for the outcome of the court decision. "He is my son, never disowned. My son is an adult; I can assure you it is only the court of justice that will determine it. It is not justice by public opinion; it is justice by the court. As I have said, we must follow justice, whoever is found guilty will be so dealt with, if he is not, we will know," he said.
Tukur's son is presently facing trial with others for alleged involvement in fraudulent management of oil subsidy fund.

The Public opinion so far expressed about the Oil subsidy theft and other related stealing of Nigerian resources is very important and cogent. It would be mischievous for any Public Office Holder to thumb down Public perception or opinion regarding the conduct of Public Office Holders and members of their family. Truly, Bamanga's Son is an Adult, but his dealings must have a lot of colouration with the position of Bamanga, who is the National Chairman of PDP. We have examples where Children, Wives, Brothers and Sisters of Political Top Nochers are Governors, Legislators, Local Government Chairmen, Government Contractors at the promtings of their Parents at the helm of affairs. It is the belief that Nigerian Judiciary had been compromised. The recent cases involving former Governor of Delta State - Ibori, and Dr. Erastus Akingbola were dismissed by Nigerian Courts, for them to be convicted by London Courts on similar charges. There are also many high profile cases in Nigerian Courts that were almost consigned into the archives. Like the corrupt other arms of government, a compromised Judiciary can not dispense Justice without fair or favour, then we are left with the option in the bar of Public Opinion, which is more pungent than anything else. The Oil Subsidy is the easiest avenue created by Public Office Holders to perpetrate the looting of Nigeran Nation. Who are the Perpetrators? Those Public Officers and their Cronies. This is one of the reasons why more than 80% of Nigerian Population are not feeling the impact of Governznce. It is therefore immoral for somebody to play down the Public Opinion on Oil Subsidy theft, and other related stealing from Public Till. By Isunola Asi Anishere.
