Egypt: Liberal Novelist Defends Anti-Brotherhood Protesters

Despite the difference in views, prominent novelist and activist Alaa al-Aswany insisted that anti-Muslim Brotherhood protesters have the right to demonstrate anywhere they wish.

On Twitter, Aswany called for the prosecution of the Sheikhs who described the protesters as "infidels" and incited their killing.

Azhar Sheikh Hashem Islam issued a fatwa legitimizing the killing of anti-Muslim Brotherhood protesters, accusing them of banditry and treason.
