The global media's coverage of the killing of 34 striking mine workers at Lonmin mine by police in South Africa in a frenzied three-minute hail of gunfire that left 78 others seriously injured has exposed the duplicitous nature of Western media coverage.
Similarly, Western powers that are quick to point bloodied fingers at perceived norm-breakers in other parts of the world appear to have been stunned into silence as well as exposing the synergies between their foreign policies and the editorial policies of their media.
