Zambia: Sata Sends Goodwishes to Muslims

PRESIDENT Sata has sent a goodwill message to the Muslim Community in Zambia during the EID celebrations held to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a statement released by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah, President Sata was hopeful that the spirit of Ramadan would motivate the Muslim Community to support Government's programmes aimed at improving people's lives.

"I wish to congratulate all Muslims in Zambia on this day of EID EL FITR, a joyous occasion which marks the end of fasting ," President Sata said.

He said fasting had been an opportunity for the Muslim Community to reflect upon the universal religious values of compassion, sharing, unity and co-operation which also drove his Government to strive to raise the living standards.

EID, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm).
