Angola: Cement Plant Inaugurated in Catumbela

Catumbela — A cement plant called "Cimenfort" was inaugurated Wednesday in the Catumbela Industrial Growth Point (PDIC), central Benguela province, during a ceremony presided over by the minister of Geology, Mining and Industry, Joaquim Duarte David.

Estimated to have cost Usd 100 million, the plant is a Genea Group Angola's investment, built in four years time.

According to the factory's director general, Paul Marcius Ang, in the first phase the plant will produce 720,000 tonnes of cement per year, before rising the production to one million in the second phase.

He said that the undertaking is equipped with modern technology from Japan, Germany, Brazil and China and will produce a cement of quality and offer more than 500 new jobs.
