Nigeria: Customs Generates N6.6 Billion At Lagos Port

The Nigeria Customs Services (NCS), Ports and Terminal Multi-Services Ltd., (PTML) Command in Lagos, generated N6.6 Billion as revenue in July, according to a statement.

The statement, issued by Mr. Steve Okonma, the Public Relations Officer of the command in Lagos yesterday, said the revenue for the month was N1billionhigher than the amount recorded in June.

It attributed the increase to the diligence and commitment of officers of the command.

"In the history of PTML, this is the month we generated the highest revenue with the support of our listening comptroller," the statement said.

The statement said that the Customs Area Comptroller, Mr. Tunji Aremu, had consistently met with stakeholders, adding that such meetings had made positive impacts on the performance of the command.

It urged members of the business community to make the best use of such meetings to reduce the cost of doing business at the port.

The command called on stakeholders to continue to support it to meet set targets.

It said the success recorded in revenue generation was as a result of the 24-hour cargo clearance initiative of the Comptroller General.
