Ghana: Nana Addo's Education Plan Needs to Be Supported

Ever since Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo broached the idea of implementing a free Senior High School concept, the New Patriotic Party leader has come under a barrage of criticisms from people who feared that the project was unsustainable.

On Tuesday, the New Patriotic Party leader took advantage of the opportunity offered by the encounter with the Institute of Economic Affairs in Accra, to lay bare the economics of the programme. In the first year of the project, scheduled to begin in the 2012-13 academic year, the fee free policy would cost the nation GH¢78million.
