Uganda: Promote Science but Don't Kill Arts

There is a concerted government effort to promote the teaching of sciences as the benchmark on which Uganda will develop.

Speaking at the Church of Uganda Provisional Assembly at the Uganda Christian University Mukono on Wednesday, President Museveni encouraged the clergy to fight poverty by promoting the teaching of science subjects in church-founded schools. And late last month, when the ministry of Public Service announced an increment in the public servants' salary, at the universities, the science teachers were given a 30% increase while those in the arts were given a paltry 10%.
