Sudan: Air Strikes and Villages Attacked in Jebel Marra

East Jebel Marra — Several areas of Jebel Marra were hit by air strikes on Monday August 27, Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) and Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) confirmed.

At the same time, several villages in the area were attacked and markets were looted by pro-government militias.

Mustafa Tambour, official spokesperson of the SLM led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed El-Nour, accused the government of supporting pro-government militias.Tambour said East Darfur is suffering from increased attacks. Nine villages in East Jebel Marra were attacked on Monday August 27. He added that the attacks resulted into the flight of many residents towards neighbouring valleys and mountains.

Radio Dabanga did not succeed to contact the official Sudanese army spokesperson for comments.
