Namibia: Rehabilitation of Aus-Lüderitz Railroad Underway

29 August 2012

The rehabilitation of the Aus-Lüderitz railway line and the upgrading of the Lüderitz railway station finally got back on track in June this year, after a 14-year delay caused mainly by financial constraints.

The rehabilitation work covers about 70 kilometres, and part of that distance was completed already in the past two months. JER Construction Company from Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region is responsible for the rehabilitation work, which is scheduled for completion by February next year.
