Gondar — Over 1.2 million hides and skin were supplied to the central market from North Gondar Zone, Amhara State in 2004 E.C. budget year, the zonal agriculture department said.
Department Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator Fasil Weretaw said Wednesday that the amount of hides and skin supplied to the market exceeded by 400,000 that of the previous year.
Fasil said awareness raising education provided to the public contributed to keep quality of hides and skin supplied to the market and also prevent illegal trading.
Construction of warehouses for hides and skins also brought about the growth in the amount of hides and skin supplied to the market, he said.
