Kano — The Kano State Police Command has arrested a man for pretending to be a 700-year-old spirit and duping members of the public.
Addressing newsmen yesterday, the state's Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris, said a complaint was logged by a man who claimed to have been taking money to a nearby bush for spiritual cleansing as directed by the self acclaimed spirit, whose name was given as Nura Hamza of Kurnan Asabe quarters.
According to the commissioner, the suspect tells his victims via phone where and how to deposit money requested of them.
The commissioner also stated that after a thorough search of the suspect's compound, the cell phone with which he contacts his victims was found.
Other items recovered from the suspect, according to Idris, include fake dollar notes, four MTN sim certificates among others.
