Nigeria: PDP at 14, Lists Achievements, Orders Sombre Celebration

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday marked its 14th anniversary, listing its achievement as a ruling political party, just as the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar urged the party to reflect how well it has fulfilled its social contract with Nigerians that has been voting it to victory since 1999.

PDP was a political party formed in August 31 1998.

Addressing a press conference to mark its 14th anniversary, the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh described the PDP as the major catalyst for the unity of Nigeria through its strong leadership and all embracing membership whose centripetal pull has succeeded in relegating the barriers of race, religion and ideological persuasions.

However, he said that the celebration should be low key stating, "Our anniversary should be an occasion for us to celebrate really but we have chosen to mark it this year without pomp. This is in line with our determination to devote more attention to accelerating an all front delivery of our electoral promises to Nigerians and in deference to the mood of the nation.

He said that the party will continue to make the welfare of the people a priority, than it have done in the last fourteen years and urge that Nigerian keep hope alive.

According to Metuh, "We all know that these are at the core of issues that have kept Nigeria down since independence. There is no gain saying that the PDP is the only truly national political party in Nigeria. It is the only political party not owned by any individual or group or associated with any tribal or religious group. It is a melting pot that has given adequate expression to the aspirations of all Nigerians irrespective of class, tribe or religion".

Elsewhere in national political assessment ,citizens have the convention to award government populous reward for success or failure in delivery of service and citizen welfare. This is another example that our nation is seized and ruled by the most dishonest calibre of human being on the planet . How can a nation with the amount of wealth available to provide needed economic and social welfare to citizens be this corrupt and inefficient to ask citizens to rate their performance, what performance? Instead they rated themselves and damned the slaves around them . This is definitely a daring act and like in many other activities similar to looting and robbery of the Treasury with profound audacity . Such names I have read within the rank and file of the PDP have been collection of peoples with record of abject failures in past government both national and State levels . No one in his right senses will have or show element of respectability to such political party whose presence have been dogged by relentless looting of peoples money by the highest in the government . Those who listened to recent combat between the three musketeers in the robbery an looting gangsters have no reason to respect either of the two principal actors whose stolen wealth sit in banks and financial institutions all over the planet while the nation is stifled to abandonment . They robbed the nation to the extent we could not even build mere oil refinery to provide citizens with petroleum product from our own crude oil to run critical infrastructure including electricity and energy to keep few industry functional . I read the latest demand by some States in the Federation to lay off their workforce whose income is mere 1,800 Naira ($100)per month. It is clear despite all known atrocities going on among the leadership and citizens , nothing seem to have changed or even being addressed in practical terms . It is either Jonathan has become despondent or overwhelmed to the extent of denial or total abandonment as sign of submission . What is the current status of the looted $ 400 billion from petroleum subsidy and the further 400 billion Naira stolen by local marketers ? The political leaders under whose ambit these robbery are happening are the very persons giving themselves high performance rating for wasted resource to keep them in service .
