This year, Kenyan acts have been nominated in prime categories in the Channel O Music Video Awards that will be held on November 19. Majority of the nominees found out about their nominations on Twitter. Of the seven Kenyan nominees, Camp Mulla received three nominations for Most Gifted East African Video of the Year, Most Gifted Newcomer Video of the Year, all for their single Party Don't Stop, and Most Gifted Video of the Year for Fresh All Day.
Ragga star Wyre the Love Child bagged a nomination for Most Gifted Reggae Video of the Year for his latest release Dancehall Party. "I first learnt about this on Twitter. I'm very excited because last year I was also nominated on the same category but I lost to Samini. Hopefully this year, we can bring it back home," Wyre told Word Is.
Habida and Cannibal bagged a slot in the Most Gifted R&B music video of the Year for their collaboration single My Reason. Habida who also heard about the news on Twitter said, "My first love is RnB and I'm glad that Mt Reason has made the list because when I was making the video I just had an idea of a story and Emmanuel Jambo brought it out for me. So, if it wins, I will be over the moon." Madtraxx's musical collaboration with Ugandan Keko for the single Make You Dance got them two nominations in the Most Gifted East African video of the Year and Most Gifted Female Video of the Year categories.
