The Plateau State government has set up a committee to investigate alleged sharp practices in the state's Muslim Pilgrims' Welfare Board. A source in the board told newsmen yesterday in Jos that the committee's assignment was mostly on the activities of the board from 2009 to 2011.
"There are some unclear issues relating to the government-sponsored Hajj seats of those years. The issues border on allegations that some officials hijacked seats paid for and converted them to their personal use by selling them to the highest bidders," the source said.
