Nigeria: 'Arbitrary Charges Affect Prices of Goods'

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Captain Adamu Adu Biu, has said arbitrary charges in the nation's seaports affect the prices of goods and services in the market.

In a paper he presented at a seminar organised by NSC in conjunction with Akabogu and Associates, the NSC boss maintained that the factors that led to review of local shipping charges in 1997 still persist. He said that the concessionaires have introduced new tariff headings outside the officially approved nomenclature.
