Kenya: Party Chiefs Defy IEBC in Kajiado North Campaigns

WHEN the 10 candidates for the Kajiado North constituency by-election were cleared by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, they were given a strict warning that they should campaign between 6am and 6pm starting this week. IEBC's returning officer for the constituency, Naisiae Tobiko, warned them that they will be punished if they fail to heed the directive.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday campaigned in Kitengela way after 6pm for ODM candidate Peter Mositet. Three days later, on Wednesday night, Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, of United Democratic Front, together the party candidate, Salaon Kashorda, campaigned in the area at night under police protection.
