Akure — IN a bid to strengthen its health information management system, the Ondo state government has procured 190 laptops and card readers linked with its Abiye Safe motherhood programme.
Health Commissioner, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju who said this in an interview with newsmen in Akure noted that already a comprehensive training programme had been conducted for care providers in the health facilities across the state.
Dr Adeyanju said that " the Abiye Safe motherhood programme, initiated by the present administration to reduce maternal and infant mortality uses facilities like basic health centres, comprehensive health centres, general hospitals and the Mother and child Hospital being the final referral point.
According to him the laptops would be given to each of the four basic health centres in each of the 18 local government areas, two comprehensive health centres in each of the councils, 18 General Hospitals, two for the Mother and Child Hospital and each of the Monitoring and Evaluation officers of the local government areas.
Dr Adeyanju explained that under the scheme each of the pregnant women accessing the facilities of the state government would be issued with a smart card that would contain all information about her.
"Our officials will use the laptops to collect information from the women at the basic health centres to comprehensive health centres straight to the monitoring and evaluation officers at each of the local government areas and finally to the state monitoring and evaluation officer.
