Nigeria: 12 Burnt to Death, Five Injured in Road Accident

Tragedy struck yesterday evening in Odogbolu area of Ogun State when no fewer than 12 persons were burnt beyond recognition in a ghastly motor accident that occurred between Odogbolu and Ososa along the Lagos- Benin expressway.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the auto crash, which involved a white Toyota Hiace branded Ajetunmobi Express with registration number XA 659DBC, and a white truck loaded with brown containers with registration number LG 35BBG equally left about five persons seriously injured.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the public relations officer of the Traffic Compliance Agency (TRACE) in Ogun State, Mr. Adebiyi said the accident was due to overspeeding, adding that three additional persons escaped the auto crash through the bush. The corpses of those that were burnt beyond recognition have been deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.

Commander Adebiyi, however, warned motorists to desist from over speeding as the year is coming to an end.
