Egypt: Morsi Honors Founder of Egyptian Commandos Force

President Mohamed Morsi bestowed on Saturday 8/9/2012 the honorary tile of Lieutenant General on the founder of the Egyptian commandos force Major General Galal Mahmoud Hareedi.

Hareedi, 83, expressed gratitude to Morsi for this honor after years of being ostracized, imprisoned and even sentenced to death.

Hareedi highlighted that commandos is the only weapon which participated in the battles and presented martyrs since the first commandos band was formed in 1955. It has had achievements in Yemen, Syria, Jordan and the war of Attrition and the glorious October War.
