Sudan versus Ethiopia in an eight goal thriller match.

Ethiopia national football side (The Black Lions) believe they have given themselves a huge boost in their quest to qualify for 2013 Orange African Cup of Nations after scoring three goals away from home in during the weekend defeat to neighbours Sudan. According to the Lions' defensive midfielder Asrat Megersa the result from Omdurman presents them with an opportunity to qualify for the finals in South Africa as he and his teammates can win in Addis Ababa by the margin required to qualify for the South Africa finals in 2013. Megersa was talking to Cafonline.com after the match which Sudan won 5-3.

How did you find the today's match ?

It was too tactically and tough. The both side show put up good performances and produced a thrilling game.

How did Ethiopia do in comparison to Sudan?

I thought Sudan dominated the first 45 minutes totally and scored a three deserved goals, we reacted positively and got back into the game by scoring two goals. We were better tactically in the second half. We changed went more on the offensive and scored some goals but we faced a good Sudanese side today.

What is the morale like in your team after losing this match 5-3 ?

In fact it is good, not too bad a result. It has not dampened our spirits.

You scored three goals in Omdurman, what do you expect in the return match in Addis Ababa?

Sudan didn't deserve to be awarded two penalties towards the end of the match. We played better than them in the second half and we will fancy our chances to do well by the required margin in Addis.

What were the instructions from coach Sewnet Bishaw during the break?

He didn't say a lot but just asked us to continue working hard and playing well , with full concentration and not to repeat the same mistakes which allowed Sudan to score the last two goals in first half.

What kind of return match do you expect in Addis Ababa next month?

We will be completely ready for this encounter. We have given ourselves a fighting chance in the return match at home next month. I strongly believe Ethiopia will make it through to the finals this time round.

The Ethiopia National Team has always use an excuse and complain about the opposite team, the referee, the air condition, the reservation, the field, the ball, the fans, the finance, the federation, the over all situation, and others. This team has a spirit of loser and always be defeated by others. The players are not sensational and inspirational they always blaming and presenting causes all the time. We all are bored by this team, they can't face challenges. I think looking and supporting this team makes all people sick. They are an headache to all of us. It is better to stop this team here because we save our resources, money and time.

That referee was just awful. He gave Sudan two undeserved penalties just to make sure that they won. He should not be allowed to referee any match again. This is the first time since 31 years that Ethiopia had the chance to qualify and it might be thwarted by a stupid referee. But I believe in the spirit of our players and in their skills, i believe in the spirit of us their fans, and they will make it. I will watch my team play in South Africa in 2013!!! CAF has to seriously do something about these stupid referees that it fields out as they always make serious costly mistakes all over the continent.Dil le Etiopya!!!

Hey mr tesfaye before you talk trash think twice ok this days all ethiopian are aware of all sabotage which was doing against ethiopia by those evil minded egyptian and sudan for centuries to exploite the abay water and sport was one part of sabotage which they used to undermined the people of ethiopia by using any kind of means to beat ethiopia including bribing the riferies and by making our citzens corrupted but this will be the end cos evry ethiopian are now aware of it. and this game was the same thing the referee was bribed and the game was already set uped on favour of sudan but I want to you assure you that this will not be continued any more cos like i say before we ethiopians are aware of it so we will face you by any means.

The black lions can make a history. We still have the chance. But, Tesfaye should revise his views about the team. Every thing is changing in the country, and the football is part of the change. We should not think back. The days ahead are brighter.
