Zimbabwe: Pasipamire Dies

FORMER Harare province Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association vice-chairman and Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings board member, Cde Christopher Pasipamire has died. Cde Pasipamire (54) whose Chimurenga name was Cde Muchadura succumbed to renal failure at a local private clinic on Saturday.

According to ZBC News last night, the late Cde Pasipamire's family has since written to Zanu-PF to have the late war veteran accorded hero status.

Cde Pasipamire was born on April 1, 1958 and attended Thornhill Primary School in Gweru before proceeding to Kutama Mission and Goromonzi High School for his secondary education respectively.

He then enrolled at the University of Rhodesia in the mid-1970s and then joined the liberation struggle in 1978.

He received his military training at Tembwe in Mozambique and taught at the Zanu-PF headquarters in Maputo.

At independence he joined Government and served as district administrator in Harare, Seke and Gweru.

Mourners are gathered at his Mt Pleasant home in Harare and burial arrangements were still to be finalised.
