Nigeria: FRSC Gets Raincoats, Signage From DN Meyer

DN Meyer Plc, manufacturers and marketers of premium decorative paints, industrial and protective coatings, recently donated top quality raincoats and new signage to the Ojota Unit of FRSC in Lagos.

General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mrs. Tonia Akinkugbe, who donated the items on behalf of the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Adeola Omosebi, said the company was committed to helping the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) safeguard lives and properties on Nigerian roads.

Akinkugbe noted that the company was strategically positioned to revolutionise the industry through technological breakthrough, novel initiatives and quality products. "DN Meyer is a committed, responsible and caring corporate citizen. We are configured to improve the quality of life of the people in our operating environment. We believe in the welfare of our employees as well as the activities that are directed towards environmental safety and educational welfare of our host communities."

She stated that road safety was an issue that touched everyone in some manner, and that the company decided to support the Federal Road Safety Corps, to ensure they continually discharged their duties seamlessly. "We are conscious of the fact that in carrying out this assignment, men of the agency are exposed to certain hazards especially in rainy season. The realisation of this fact is what informed and motivated of our support of the agency with Raincoats. We also want to make the Ojota Unit more visible, by this new signage showing the emergency number of the agency for people to call has been vividly provided."

Akinkugbe commended the FRSC for creating sanity on Nigerian roads, adding that the Company would continue to support FRSC towards a drastic "decrease in accident rates and fatalities on our roads."

In his welcome address, the Ojota Unit Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega, expressed their gratitude to DN Meyer for the gesture and promised to make proper use of the raincoats. He stated that "we all need to join hands together in ensuring safer road and fuller life".

The Sector Commander of FRSC, Lagos, Mr. Nseobong Akpabio lauded DN Meyer for the gesture which he said had shown the Company as a great and responsible corporate citizen who has continued to contribute towards the advancement of its host communities.

"We are aware of the past contributions made by DN Meyer to FRSC as a whole, not only to Ojota unit Command. The donations will go a long way in helping us curtail road hazards in the country. This donation of new sign post will enable road users to easily contact our call centres in cases of emergency."

Akpabio estimated that, about 1.3 million people are killed every year on the road accidents while 50 million others are injured due to driving related incidents. "But we will continue to work towards ensuring road traffic practices in the country. As this cannot be achieved without the support of all levels of government, and patriotic citizens like DN Meyer.we call on other corporate citizens to emulate your company and contribute towards safety on our roads."

The sector Commander further revealed that they would be embarking on an aggressive public enlightenment programme to enforce the new national licence system, which makes it possible for a user to be identified without encumbrances. DN Meyer Plc was incorporated in 1960 and converted to a Public Company in 1979. Its extensive range of products include architectural paints, wood paints, auto refinishes, industrial and marine, road lining paints, roof coatings, tube coatings, HP coatings and adhesives.
