The Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Ita Okon Ewa has stated the ministry's readiness to support professionalism and development in the mining industry.

Speaking when he received a delegation from the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) in his office, Prof. Ewa said "mining is very crucial to development as it involves the development of raw materials that are very critical and relevant to the energy sector. The support of the mining industry in the energy, raw materials, and development sector makes it relevant to the ministry of science and technology."
