A top PNU official was among those who attended William Ruto's Sh100,000-plate dinner at the Laico Regency on Wednesday last week. He was later heard telling curious interlocutors during the event that it was a matter of time before he jumped ship and joined URP. Interestingly, the man was on Friday at PNU headquarters explaining to aspirants the provisions of the Election Act. Another official was overheard complaining that the man should just defect because there is nothing keeping him in the party.

Cases of MPs pinching the meagre salaries of their aides is more rampant than can be imagined. Many have confirmed the malaise. After last week's report about an ODM MP, who had threatened to sack his aide for refusing to surrender part of his salary, a bodyguard of an assistant minister was overheard complaining about the same. The man says he has been forced to share with his boss the little he gets as allowance from Parliament, even if it is as little as Sh2,000.
