The claims of corruption, reported in some municipalities in the Eastern Cape Province, gives rise to grave concern and needs urgent investigation.
"It is shocking to find that the Buffalo City Metro wasted more than R150 million on irregular spending during the past financial year. The communities in this area are in desperate need of service delivery. It is simply unacceptable that the municipality wasted such large amounts of money on fruitless expenditure," said Mr PF Smith, IFP Spokesperson for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Parliament.
