Zambia: Rupiah Banda Doc's Car Impounded

POLICE in Lusaka have impounded a Mitsubishi Pajero which is allegedly believed to have been illegally in the possession of former president Rupiah Banda's doctor.

Police Spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela yesterday confirmed in an interview that police got the motor vehicle from a Dr Desai.

Times sources also confirmed that the impounded vehicle was being used by Dr Shaileni Desai of Victoria Hospital in Lusaka.

"We only have one vehicle that police are holding onto which is a Mitsubishi Pajero from a Dr Desai. It is believed to have been illegally in his possession," she said.

Ms Kanjela, however said she could not divulge further details as investigations were still underway.

She said police were still carrying out investigations on the matter and that she would provide members of the public with further updates.

Dr Desai was employed as presidential physician under Mr Banda's regime.
