Tanzania: Kikwete Urges Tourism Harmony

Nairobi — PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has pushed for joint strengthening of the tourism sector between Tanzania and Kenya in order to boost the economies of the two countries which are endowed with a range of tourist attractions.

Mr Kikwete, who is on a three-day working visit here, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of a Hospitality and Tourism School at Kenyatta University on Monday. While noting that the sector is an extensive one and which still has a lot of opportunities to alleviate poverty in both countries, he said there was no need for the two countries "to fight for tourists" but rather work jointly to develop it.
