Nigeria: Al-Makura Commends Nigerian Paralympians

The governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Umar Tanko Al-Makura has joined millions of other well meaning Nigerians in commending members of Nigeria paralympic team to the London 2012 Games for their outstanding performance.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Media Relations Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The statement quoted the governor as saying the contingent has proved to the world that there is ability in disability.

The Governor said that the federal Government spent billions of Naira on the able bodied athletes to the London Olympics without results but those who are physically challenged were the country's serving grace.

"See What God is doing, the people you see as nothing simply because of their disabilities are the ones that have won precious medals for Nigeria and those the government spent billions to sponsor to London only brought shame to the nation. I want to commend the paralympians for this giant stride. I am really happy"

The statement also noted that the governor Al-Makura has concluded plans to establish a high institution for the disabled in the state, where people with disability nationwide would study in various fields.

It said the governor also reiterated his commitment to serving the needy saying his administration would not relent in its efforts to take Nasarawa State to enviable heights.
