Zambia: Kalulushi Cut Lime Lead

KALULUSHI Modern Stars has cut Lime Hotspurs' lead in the MTN-FAZ Division One north league to 11 points after defeating Young Forest 0-1 in a week 27 match played in Kasama on Saturday.

Lime, who were out of league action because of a Barclays Cup quarter-finals match against Zanaco on Saturday, have a chance to retain a 14-point lead on Wednesday when they host Mining Rangers.

The win pushed Kalulushi to 49 points on second position followed by Ndola United who, also maintained third position despite a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Chindwin Sentries.

Kitwe United also retained third position following a home goalless against Kalewa with the biggest upset of the weekend coming from Shinde Stadium where hosts 'Mighty' Mufulira Wanderers were stunned 0-1 by Bresmar United.

In the southern Zone, Kafue Celtic promotion bid suffered another slump following a 2-1 defeat suffered at Luena Barracks as second placed City of Lusaka were also held to a 1-all draw against Riflemen.

Leaders Kabwe Warriors take on another promotion chasing side Nkwazi tomorrow following their involvement in the Barclays Cup competition at the weekend.
