The Alliance of Egyptian Americans wants the new constitution to permit dual citizens to run for president, a released statement stated on Monday.

In a conference at the diplomatic club, the coalition expressed wishes for the new law concerning presidential elections to consider citizenship by birth in Egypt and being born to Egyptian parents sufficient criteria for nomination.

The statement, distributed by member of the coalition, Sabry al-Baga, addressed the importance of implementing equality between the Egyptians who live inside and outside of Egypt.

The coalition asked for a new ministry to be dedicated to the issues and concerns of expatriates and fair representation in parliament.

Member of the constituent assembly and founder of the "Egyptian Dialogue" Party Amr Moussa, Ambassador Aly al-Asheery, foreign minister assistant for expatriates affairs, constitutional experts and head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party Mohamed Abu al-Ghar all attended the conference on Monday.
