HANANASIFU Orphanage Centre (HOCET) has pleaded with various stakeholders and well-wishers to donate funds for the construction of high schools for orphans.
HOCET Director, Mr Hezekiel Mwalugaja made the appeal in Dar es Salaam when receiving a donation of 1m/- from the Member of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Ms Shy-Rose Bhanji. The high schools, according to Mr Mwalugaja, are to be constructed in Mbeya and Mkuranga, Coast region to cater for orphan students from various parts of the country.
"The schools are built with the aim of helping orphan students to acquire skills and knowledge in preparation of their future lives," he said. According to Mr Mwalugaja, construction of the schools would cost 1bn/-. We call upon education stakeholders and other well-wishers to extend a helping hand to supplement our (HOCET) efforts in setting up the schools," he said.
Mr Mwalugaja also said that plans are also underway to set up colleges for orphans. Ms Bhanji called upon fellow members of EALA, the government and private entities to support the school.
