Kenya: Electoral Commission to Sign For Voter Kits

AN agreement between the IEBC and a Canadian firm for the supply of 15,000 Biometric Voter Registration kits will be signed today. The signing of the deal will pave the way for the start of the voter registration, which the IEBC plans to start by October 11. IEBC chairman Isack Hassan told the a committee of parliament that the governments of Kenya and Canada have already signed an MoU for the supply of the kits.

Hassan told the Constitution Implementation Oversight committee chaired by Abdikadir Mohammed that the firm and the commission yesterday discussed the technical specifications of the project. "The negotiations of the technical aspects of the contract between the commission and the supplier are going on. We expect to sign the agreement latest by tomorrow (today)," he said.
