Zimbabwe: Karoi Council Workers Go on Strike

KAROI Town Council workers have gone on an indefinite strike pressing for the payment of their outstanding salaries. Council owes workers four months salary in excess of $220 000. Efforts to pacify the workers have been in vain as they have vowed to stay on strike until they get paid. In an interview yesterday, a worker, who preferred anonymity for fear of victimisation, said they had run out of patience with management.

"We have been very patient with our employer but time has shown that they do not honour their promises," he said.
