Gambia: BAC Gives Ultimatum to Tax Defaulters

The management of the Brikama Area Council (BAC) has given a 25-day ultimatum to tax defaulters within its jurisdiction to settle their arrears or else face attached consequences. The Council warned that upon the expiration of the ultimatum, which ends on October 15, it would be compelled to apply the law to anyone found wanting.

Speaking to the Daily Observer Wednesday in an interview, the public relations officer of the Council, Modou Jonga, said the management has put in place all the necessary steps to be taken against defaulters if they fail to settle their arrears within the ultimatum period. The Council's spokesperson called on the people of the region to adhere to the demands of BAC, while particularly urging the leased, free hold, and valued property owners to come forward and settle their arrears.
