Angola: Over 800 Children Vaccinated Against Polio in Cuvelai

Mass immunisation campaigns try to keep polio at bay.

Cuvelai — At least 891 children, under five years old, were vaccinated against poliomyelitis and measles in Cuvelai district, southern Cunene province, in August by the services of the Expanded Vaccination Programme (PAV).

This was said to Angop on Thursday by the official in charge of local PAV, Evaristo Paulo.

According to him, the children were also given dosages of pentavalent "BCG", vitamin "A" and vaccinated against yellow fever.

The programme also enabled the immunization of 203 pregnant women against tetanus, as well as 139 pregnant got vaccinated against puerperal.
